07/04/2011
Europe/London

Next Course Dates

21 November 2011 to 25 November 2011

This course is aimed at camera assistants or DV operators who want to take the next step towards becoming camera operators by learning to operate larger cameras. Participants will be given the opportunity to learn on a variety of film and HD cameras, in a variety of set-ups.

This course is largely practical with a series of structured workshops and some classroom-based sessions. Participants will be able to operate different cameras in our studio and outside. The course will cover both film and digital imaging, providing students who are more at home with film with the opportunity to transfer their skills to HD. The overall aim of the course is to enable participants to be able to make the progression from camera assistant to camera operator.

The course aims:

  • To teach participants the basics of operating a range of professional cameras
  • To understand the importance of framing and composition
  • To gain an understanding of how shooting on HD differs from shooting on film

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Operate HD and 16mm cameras both on location and in a studio
  • Begin to develop an individual framing and composition style
  • Understand the qualitative differences between shooting on HD and film.

**When you apply to this course, please include on your CV which cameras you have worked on and how much experience you have had operating.
