BBC Creative Director position for Channel 4's David Williams

David Williams, currently commissioning editor entertainment at Channel 4, is to join the BBC as creative director, Entertainment North.

As a first step in growing output on a pan-UK basis, Williams will be based in Salford’s Media City working on the existing portfolio including Dragons’ Den and developing a range of new programmes across all channels.

As commissioning editor at Channel 4, David commissioned Made In Chelsea, Tool Academy, Dirty Sexy Things and Playing It Straight and was also responsible for all Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother output. Previously, as an editor in factual entertainment his projects included High School Dance, Wife Swap and Big Brother.

He started his career in the mid-90s at Granada TV as a researcher on Stars In Their Eyes and You’ve Been Framed. He then worked as a researcher and associate producer at Endemol on shows including Chained, Flatmates and Bar Wars, before producing and series producing programmes such as The Games, Space Cadets, and Celebrity Big Brother. He joined Channel 4 in 2007.

With a background in award winning and iconic shows such as Stars In Their Eyes, You’ve Been Framed and Fame Academy, as well as credits on a range of popular shows for Channel 4 such as Big Brother, Shattered and Made In Chelsea, David brings a unique skill set and insight to complement BBC’s in-house talent base."
