Ideas

We can't protect your idea but we can help you to turn your idea into a treatment or a proposal and in doing this you can register it with independent copyright registration sites. We recommend very strongly that you keep your idea to yourself and only share it with people who you trust. We suggest that when you start a group you use an NDA (non disclosure agreement) to ensure that your idea remains within the confines of the group.

Development

To help you to clarify your idea we have created TreatmentMaker™ tool. This will enable you to turn your idea into a treatment or a proposal. Which means that your idea will have form and structure which will make it easier for you to collaborate with others on this and to submit it to the Combined Mind creative committee.

Collaboration

One of the options available to you once you have been through the TreatmentMaker™ process is to collaborate with fellow members of the Creative Matrix. To do this you simply have to start a new group and invite members who you would like to see your idea and to help you to develop it. Alternatively you can post on the forums looking for people to collaborate with you on an idea. Obviously to do this you would need to ensure that you didn’t give the game away. We would suggest you use your tagline or once sentence description in your idea treatment to harvest interest.

Submit your idea

When you have completed the treatment maker process… you have several options: Sit on the idea and hope it turns into a beanstalk Collaborate with members of the Creative Matrix Submit it directly to Combined Mind.

What happens when you submit your idea to Combined Mind

First and foremost when you submit an idea we automatically send you an email telling you that we have received this idea and that it remains your sole property and that we promise that no member of the CM committee will make use of your idea in its present form until such time as we have reached an agreement. Until then this idea remains your property and we have no claim to it. Your idea is then entered into our Idea Lifecycle We will then read your idea evaluate it, give you feedback, recommend a course of action and If we really like your idea and we can see the potential for a commission, we will contact you and either put you in touch with people who can help you develop it to the next level, or we will directly help you to get this to pitch level and we will reach a mutually agreeable arrangement. Each idea or project requires a different agreement but our principal is to give you the best deal possible. We work fundamentaly on a 50% profit share split between your team and Combined MInd but this will vary from case to case.

How do I know you wont pinch it!

You just have to trust us…. With your treatment form we have incorporated an NDA – a non disclosure agreement. This says that the idea you submit is the sole property of you. We undertake never to look at an idea that isn’t submitted directly to us. Combined Mind is about parity and fairness… if we were found to be stealing ideas from our own members…. We would be finished.

How do I register an Idea

You can't copyright an idea, ergo registering an idea is of little use. However if you create a detailed proposal or treatment you can in most instances copyright that to some degree. This is as close to safe as you can get for an idea. It is by no means entirely secure. If you fill out the TreatmentMaker™ form in detail and answer the questions it poses you will have a thorough document that will have the date of when you saved the idea and the idea will be clearly outlined in the filled out form.

We recommend you register your properly completed  TreatmentMaker™ with Duly Registered. Click on the link below to find out more and to register your work!
